Company History
The company known today as Fronde was established by founders, David Irving and Chris Comber in 1992 in Wellington, New Zealand and named Synergy International Ltd.
Between 1998 and 2001 Synergy grew in size, the ANZ Bank joined the share register as a cornerstone shareholder, and Chris Comber retired.
In 2003 the company established a Singapore subsidiary and a British joint venture to support significant programme deliveries to specific clients in those markets.
In 2005, David Irving stepped down as CEO, remaining as a non-executive director. Jim Donovan joined the company as CEO in mid-2005.
In 2007 the specialist mobile products business unit within Fronde was spun out as a separate company, to focus on international product sales to the financial sector. That same year Synergy adopted the Fronde name across all its businesses. The name might have changed, but the mission remained the same – “we enable our clients succeed”.
In 2008 Ian Clarke, General Manager at Fronde, took over as CEO and refocused Fronde on being a trusted IT services partner to major organisations in the New Zealand market. In line with that strategy, and the completion of key client engagements in Singapore and the UK, those subsidiaries have now been wound down.
